Calcium excess shrinks the brain and destroys the ability of memory cells to work.
Women have nearly two times the risk of dementia as men. Guess why? The reason is primarily because they are dutifully taking their calcium supplements on doctors’ recommendations that calcium will “prevent” osteoporosis. There are numerous reasons why this is erroneous and dangerous, but I’ll confine my comments in this article to calcium’s effects on the brain.
The effects of calcium on brain cells are known. Women have twice the risk of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia as men.
Unfortunately, the calcium poisons memory cells in the brain, causing them to become living ghost cells. This is a fact: Dementia from calcium excess in women is what is causing the increasing risk of dementia. This fact has never been stated before as such. It is nowhere in the literature nor did the researchers who published the dementia studies realize what they had observed.
You need to know for sure that you need calcium before taking it and you should never listen to a doctor’s blanket recommendation that all women need calcium in order to have strong bones as they age. In fact, we all need a broad spectrum of minerals, not calcium alone, in order to have strong bones.
Medical literature has clearly shown more than a 30% increased risk heart disease, more than 20% increased risk of stroke for people taking calcium supplements.
For those of you that may have not heard: In my opinion, it is malpractice for a doctor to recommend calcium to patients without proof they need it. The only way to tell for sure is with a hair tissue mineral analysis.
Dr Thompson Explains his Book – Calcium Lie 2
I take a brain health protein product called Prevagen and I recommend it to many of my patients. It does work. In my opinion, it is necessary and have calcium excess based on reliable HTMA testing, at least until the calcium excess resolves. It works by keeping calcium out of the brain cells. Prevagen has no benefit to those who have low calcium on HTMA.
